It’s only October and yet the ‘C’ word is already starting to be thrown around. Yes, I mean Christmas, and if you feel like you need some little helpers to reach customers across Search, Shopping, and Maps then look no further than Google’s Holiday Tools & Resources hub.
The majority of Christmas shopping is now done online so appearing in search engines and Google Shopping is as important as ever. However, due to COVID-19, people are rallying behind local businesses in a show of support during these tougher times. Google’s holiday tools are designed to help people easily find these local businesses online. Here is a summary of the two tools on offer.
Grow My Store
This free tool reminds us of one we use ourselves called diib. You enter details about your business such as the URL and the industry you are in, then Google analyses the customer experience and compares your site to others in your industry. You then receive a score along with recommendations on how to improve your website in order to grow. Here is a short video on how it works:
Local Opportunity Finder
This is a free tool to help you improve your business presence on Google Search and Google Maps. Visit localopportunity.withgoogle.com, provide details about your business, and receive personalised recommendations on how to improve your Google My Business profile.
When we tried it, the tool didn’t accept UK postcode formats so it is perhaps only live in the USA at present which is a real shame. Here is a short video on how it works:
